Women and Marriage

Odds are very high (90%+) that if you have found this site and that you are interested in coming to Ukraine, that you are interested in meeting a woman for marriage. This article will hopefully assist you in forming realistic expectations.

First, if you are going through a marriage agency – understand that marriage agencies are in the business to make money. That is your money. The more they can get you to write, the more money they make. Agencies range from complete scams to legitimate businesses, but even legitimate agencies get girls who are only interested in digging for gold.

Second, DO NOT GET LOCKED INTO THINKING YOU’VE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH ONE GIRL – whom you’ve never met in person and where all of your communications have gone through a translator. It is easy to fall in love with a picture. There are plenty of beautiful women in Ukraine and if you think you’ve seen the most beautiful woman in the world… you will change your mind three times in one hour just walking around downtown during the summer. Probably twice in the winter.

Third, regardless how many times you’ve written a girl – don’t think you are going to get married in the course of one two-week visit to Ukraine. Won’t happen, and if it does – you will likely wish it didn’t. Plan on a couple trips… or better – plan to stay here at least three to six months. Easier and cheaper to get married in Ukraine than it is to get a K1 visa for a Ukrainian lady to go to the United States.

Fourth, consider that if all does go well and you hit it off, and she speaks English reasonably well – you are asking someone who barely knows you to…. move to an entirely different country, away from family and friends, where prospects of employment are not very good.

Fifth, don’t coming bearing a mother lode of presents. You want to meet someone and marry someone who is interested in you… not your money, not your presents. Some women will be insulted – which tends to piss off those who are offering the presents, as an insult to their generosity. However, when the lady accepts the gift but does not want to get married – it is usually the man again getting pissed off that she accepted the gifts to begin with. Have seen this so many times it is not funny. Flowers with dinner is sufficient. Maybe a box of chocolates or a small souvenir is okay. Buying a computer for her? No. Jewelry? No. Expensive clothes? No. On the second visit – maybe.

Do however, expect to pay her way for any meals or drinks, admission to any entertainment venues and such. Ukrainian women do not make a lot of money – one night out at a good restaurant can cost a week or more worth of pay.

Sixth – if you are interested in a lady 20 years or more younger than you are – expect her primary interest in you will be the financial security afforded by your money.
